Independent Holidays (Individual trekking without luggage or guides)

Grading of Holidays
Holidays generally begin with easier hikes, which become more demanding as the week progresses. An easier day is usually offered mid-week. An outline guide is given below:

Moderate - A mixture of glen, coastal and moderate hill hiking. Much of the hiking is on existing tracks and trails, but some is on the open moorland. Up to 1,500 feet (500m) ascent, eight miles (12 km). One more demanding mountain hike usually offered towards the end of the week. Hiking - up to seven hours. For most moderately fit people of all ages.

Active - Mainly hill hiking on the open moorland, with some steep ascents and descents. Up to 3,000 feet (1,000m) ascent, ten miles (16km). Hiking time - up to eight hours. For hill walkers with some experience.

Strenuous - All hikes are mountain climbs with up to 4,000 ft (1,300m) ascent, 12 miles (20km) each day. Some routes involve crossing steep terrain where a good head for heights is essential. Hiking time - up to nine hours. For strong hill walkers.
