Happy Birthday to Reghan!

Great cleeks, Webbie. I did know just a little about the St. Patrick\'s Brigade, but not enough. There was a 1999 film about it called \"One Man\'s Hero\", I googled that up, says it is available from Amazon. The San Patricios are on my list of things to learn more about.

Phillis, I agree with you about the border fence. It\'s probably the most ridiculous, incredibly stupid thing the government has done in my lifetime, and that\'s saying a lot. The Bushies have much to answer for.

I\'ve got plenty of things around here that need doing. I\'m off to do some of them. Y\'all Take Care.

Very interesting cleek. Learn something new every day. I\'d never heard of the San Patricio Battalion. Thanks for that. I agree with the point they made concerning \"the wall\", actually more of a fence, that the US is putting across the border between Mexico. Sad, inane thing to do.

Eamon, nice picture on CAM 5. Thank you. I knew it was an Eamon when I scrolled down and could see just the sky. The Mayo sky is so different from the Kerry sky we see in Mark Westlake\'s photos.

I\'ve been thinking about Treasa, too, Liz, and I hope she is doing alright. She has had a lot to bear the last few years.

My warm bed and the book about the distribution of Saxons, Vikings, and Celts in England, Scotland and Ireland is calling me. They\'ve done DNA testing on current populations there to trace migrations, and it is very interesting. The archeological information from ancient settlements and the old mythological legends from ancient Ireland fit right in.

I\'m gone. Bye!

Good luck on the fishing tomorrow, Mr Mies. All in all, you have had a pretty mild winter, it seems, where ours has been extra cold, in fact there has been some talk by the weather people that we could see some snow on Saturday morning. It won\'t stick, of course, the ground temperature is too warm, but a person almost never gets a chance to see it falling here. Go figure.

I hope this is the last cold snap of the year, I\'m tired of bringing those tender plants on my deck into the house and out again. And I want to do some Spring planting...I got an EarthBox for Christmas to grow some tomatoes in. Hanging them upsidedown last year didn\'t work very well. I\'ll tell you if the EarthBox is the miracle they claim it to be. The growing cost of this crop will exceed the usual $64 per tomato, but if it works well the cost should come down in future years, and I\'ll be rolling in tomatoes.

I\'m in Kettle Falls for our Feb. Freezeout. Fishing today was slow, I guess that\'s what you call it if you only get 2 bites & no fish. It was a warm spring day when we left, but a system is moving through & it brought wind & clouds. After fighting it for a few hours we gave up & returned to the motel. For some heat & lunch. We\'re going to hit it hard tomorrow, rain or shine, & we\'re not coming back without fish. I hope

Yes, Liz, I\'m sick of the winter this year but it\'s over for me now. I close that chapter and look forward to spring. The picture on the Cam today (thanks Webbie) is the last of the winter this year. I took it when I was out on a ski tour over the fields about some weeks ago. I wonder how many of the does and hares and other animals survived. We found many dead bodies yet.

Spring is in the air today and I\'m at home and already had a busy morning but now I\'m out in the garden. I\'m longing for garden work and I\'m sure I\'ll find something to do.

Later...

WOT? Pat and I try and try to get new smilies on here and we did a lot of search and development and spent, at least, $1.57 each and Mies just undermines our HARD work. And she has the nerve to tell us in the same breath she just stole the singing symbols... What next? My life is ruined.

Webbie, the \'rising-sun\' cleek doesn\'t work for me. It says to me \'it\'s not available in your country\'. So, I choose some other versions on the site. Good one, too.

Pat, thanks for the spring reminders. I already drew a line under this winter though it isn\'t really gone yet. But I want to leave it behind now.

Phillis, good luck with your kitchen. Use this smilie for your anger...

Good morning, Liz.

Pat, your welcome for the singing symbols. No problem stealing it as I stole it too. We both have sticky fingers..

Lots to do today so Mr. Mies can get off early tomorrow. I\'ll have to catch the cleeks a little later. Have a good one ya all...

Morning All-Woke up to wet, sloppy sn*w this morning. Just enough to make the ground white & it was 34F so it won\'t stay to long, it had turned to rain when I got off the north hill.

I\'m leaving tomorrow for our Feb. Freezeout, so I spent last night minding a smoker with 30# of beef brisket. I spilled some drippings on my shoes, now I\'ll smell like BBQ all day, it will just spark my appetite. With BBQ & fresh fish tacos on the menu Saturday for shore lunch life will be good.

Mornin\'...

Liz, just highlight that string of symbols that Mies put in her post, copy it. Then open a word processor and paste it in a document, file it away, and you can go back and copy it out of there into your post when you want it.

Thanks for the cleeks, Webbie. A little soft rock and a torn tee shirt or two will do the job. Must say that Eric Burden did a better job on \"House of the Rising Sun\" earlier in his career, though his musicians in the later version were really good. Did anybody watch Tommy Emmanuel doing that on that same page...really lowdown, dirty, New Orleans guitar on that one.

We\'ll get rain this afternoon, though the sun is shining this morning. I\'m off to town to the office today. Y\'all behave.

Busy day today. Blood drive at the hospital, purchasing massive quantities of supplies for tomorrow\'s fundraising dinner. My car needs a bath in the worst way. Snow becomes quite nasty when it\'s old, doesn\'t it Annette? Fortunately, no class on Thursday. Still no hope of a kitchen soon. Thanks for the advice. I guess I will have to get \"squeaky\" in order to get results. I used to be good at that, but the hubby has me spoiled and I usually don\'t have to nag to get results. Maybe it\'s time to hone the skills. I\'m in mourning hearing about the flowers in Florida and the warm weather in Oz. It\'s not too bad here, but trust me, I\'m not going anywhere near the beach volleyball net any time soon. Specially not in a bikini! Age brings sensibility in some things. Besides, that darn net is always too high.

Frito Pie for dinner, ahh, great on a cold wet night, guess it is time for hitting the hay,, so I will say nite tee nite all.

Hope the kitchens are finished and the grandaughters are well entertained and the east and the west can unite in glorious song.
