I\'ve been bad, I waited all week for this day. Now it\'s here, now I am waiting for 5 o\'clock. Gee wasting my life away. If I keep doing that I will get old real fast.

Mike CA just let us know again what time to watch you and your family. Brian your January 5 at 4pm?

Pat and Liz hope you two have a wonderful weekend. I am just going to relax, I think.

Seiorse have a wonderful birthday. I think you switched the numbers around and your actually 68. hehehehe

Yep Ann I think your right about the spelling.

Webbie, we tried to rent Ocean\'s 11 from a video store. They told the hubby it wasn\'t out. I thought it had been out for two years, so we didn\'t get review what had happened in the first one. If any of you are going to see Ocean\'s 12 rent the first one first so that way maybe the meaning will be clearer.

Will talk later,

Well, Mike CA and Brian, I am really looking forward to seeing you at O\'Shea\'s at the appointed times. It should be a hoot.

Liz and Mike Oz, enjoy your warm weather. Warming up a little here, Mr. S. should have a nice warm day for his birthday on Sunday. And I wish you a very Happy Birthday, Mr. S., though I know you lie terribly about your age. Nobody could be nearly as old as the ancient Webbie. Now what are the days Webbie has told us are his birthdays? Maybe he has several a year. One WOULD get older faster that way. Once, I think he said it was Dec. 23, when he will be 97. We\'ll have to ask him again.

Somebody check on JoAnn. I think she fell into a box of decorations again, and can\'t get out. Hi, Steph.

See ya!

I saw \"Ocean\'s Twelve\" last night. I don\'t know what to think. We see so many movies with action, cursing, and etc. This movie was clean so it was hard to accept. Any other people seen it yet?

Well have a great day. And smile to everyone.

Crows compete with the gulls in most feeding places. The crows are a little cuter and faster but not as avoricious.....

Thinking about the petroleum products and seagulls. Maybe what they like is tar and fine gravel, as birds have no teeth, and they need little sharp stones in their gizzard (I think it would be their gizzard) to digest their food. We need to consult a bird expert. I\'m out of ideas, and I\'m going to bed. Goodnight, All.

Pat.

Now, Big Z, you must stop fooling around down there in the French Southern Territories (where are they, anyway?) and get back home for Christmas. Start swimmin\'. Webbie needs you to help with the seagulls, and you\'re not allowed to detour by Jax to watch mink bikinis with Mr. S.

That\'s trouble right there, that is!

OK, Webbie, Here\'s the scoop on seagulls.

They are colony nesters, rooftops are ideal for them, they like to nest where there are no predators. Best bet is to keep a colony from establishing itself before nesting season, can sometimes be done with scary things (like the scare eyes and metallic banners) but that needs to be reinforced with frequent trips to the colony, running through it and making loud noises. Hard to do on a rooftop. Don\'t really build nests, chicks will hatch in 3 or 4 weeks from eggs laid in the middle of the colony, so when mama flies away to feed, the eggs or chicks are protected by the huge group around them. My friend Eddie White at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says they are tough ones to get rid of once established. But you knew that.

Continued...

In Florida, some species that are nuisance and not endangered can be taken (meaning killed) with a permit from the local authorities. Surely, herring gulls are not scarce and in danger of becoming extinct in your area. Eddie says, evaluate the population, lay out the difficulties local people and businesses are having with these birds, petition your city government for a “take permit” to get a few of them, and leave the dead ones in the colony. They will move. I will leave the method of “getting” a few of them to you.

Also, as an aside, there have been cases in Florida where colonies of what Eddie calls the “Least tern” nesting on rooftops have been devastated by roofing materials containing petroleum products. Tar? The chicks pick at it, and it kills them. And the colony moves. Nuff said.

You don’t intend to decimate the entire population of herring gulls in Ireland. The gulls do not belong in populated areas. The Lord made the world big enough for us all, and species should stay where He intended them to be. Good Luck, Webbie. Hope this helps a little.

Pat

Webmaster-Comment: Hi Ms Pearson.....thanks for taking the time to gather the data for me and for writing it down.
I will mull over it.
Actually the Herring Gull populations is being severely effected in Ireland with a huge drop in numbers. One would not expect this to be the case.It seems our fish stock is quite low because of over-fishing etc and this may be the main reason for the gulls moving inland and into towns and cities. They are scavengers and are feeding from the plastic bags used for refuse. Food is becoming contaminated and of course they cannot figure that out till it's too late.. Feeding the young with contaminated food and the results thereof is the main contributor to the falling numbers.
Because the gulls are moving into town in big numbers we dont notice the fallin population....in fact it gives the appearance of an increase.
And so I will just ahve to encourage them, through whatever means, to take up more luxurious accommodation on the southside of the city......eheheheheh

Hello everyone! Well it\'s a bit chilly today, but not bad. Of course I do feel sorry for Pat & Seirose. It sure is hard to go low in temp and then go back up. Make sure to dress warm.

Where is that Joann? I wonder if she accidently mailed herself to Ireland? Mike in CA you better check your bags. lol

Webbie by the time the gull problem is fixed we might be sending the guys with white jacket for you.

I guess trapping them would be good, and getting one of those Florida gators as a pet. I think that will work. Of course it will need a fur coat.

Take care all.

Liz I get Christmas Eve off and New Year\'s Eve as a break. Should be fun!
