Hello, Troops...

Still not feeling well, no better, no worse. I\'ll get over it.

Charlie, thank you for the info about the Garden of Remembrance and that sculpture of the Children of Lir, and your explanation of its meaning. I am absolutely enchanted with it. Missed it in two Dublin visits, strangely never heard of it, but I spent most of my time south of the Liffy, Trinity, indoor art galleries,

etc. Fine sculptor, not an easy thing to portray in bronze, but I knew immediately on seeing Rob O\'s photo what it must be. Always loved that story, googled for info about the sculpture, found other pics. Had a little visit there in my mind...lovely. The magic of the Internet.

What\'s the score?

Pat

Mr. Oostrum....thanks for the pix of your Irish holiday tour....

Webmaster....Indeed I did notice the Carrick-on-Shannon pix whilst browing thru Mr. Oostrum\'s pix....I went back thru some of my archives and also looked at a pictorial map of the area and refreshed me old, worn-out memory...Thanks for the reminder, nevertheless and for your other comments about their holiday...

They are using the "countries" list and that is a pain. I gotta delete each individual entry separately....oh woe is me.......grrrr.....So anything you can do to help will be appreciated....lorl

Hi Pat. That park is at the top of O\' Connell st, just north. Up beyond the rotunda it was set up 1966 to mark the golden jubilie of the easter rising and all who died for Irish freedom. The bronze is by Oisin kelly. Symbolising that at certain moments in history people are utterly changed. The park is called The garden of rembrance. It\'s a good place for peace an quite in the city. Your right it\'s the children of lir.

Hey, Guys...

How are you all, Mick CA/Noah, you are having a time out there. Just the usual warm and sunny here. Charlie, you do kep up with all the sports, let us know tomorrow what happens with the Ireland/England game. They were great shots that Rob Oostrum made, and LOTS of them. The only problem is that they weren\'t captioned, so you don\'t know where they were taken. Anyone know where that statue of the girl and two men and the swans is? It looks like a park, with water and maybe a waterfall in back of it. I would like to know more about it. It is beautiful, I think it is probably \"the Children of Lir\".

Take care, Everybody.

Pat

Webmaster-Comment: Those pix are excellent and tell a tale of one type of holiday for two young couples and how happy they look. If you can take the Dublin pix out the remainder are centred around a "boating" holiday HQ'd in Carrick-on-Shannon. Seoirse will be familiar with some of the shots. There is also a visit to Lough Key Forest Park (a few miles up-river) and some nice pix taken from Moylurg Tower - see can you asssociate the irish ver with that). Some of the shots are taken from high vantage points in Carrick-on-Shannon up by the Water Tower. You will also see a pic of the smallest chapel in Ireland (maybe the world) - 084 and 085.
They ate in Cryans 046 and possibly the Oarsman 088.
The gardens with the beautiful flowers belong to Strokestown House with its original fittings etc. This is a few miles from Carrick - you wont walk it though. http://www.strokestownpark.ie/introtext.html
There is a craft centre in Carrick 048 to 055.
In Dublin they took the usual tourist trail, the open tourist bus, a trip on the DART and a visit to Malahide castle. Also a trip to the Phoenix park. I ahve probably missed out on a lot of where they viewed but it seemed a very pleasant vacation apart from the baisteach

Hi, Liz! Are you well into your Saturday activities? I always have to do housework on Saturday, because I work all week. Don\'t feel tippy-toppy today, I have a cough and a head cold. Everybody at the office has it...doesn\'t make you sick enough to take to your bed, just sick enough to ruin your day. My ribs are hurting from coughing.

Going to go have a cup of tea, and try to get to bed early, for a change. Have a nice day.

See Ya!
