Sara...I\'d love that!

Liz...if you were home in 83 then Sara would only have been 2 years old.Yes, she was always a shy little thing. She still is to some extent.

Yes Sara, Laura still needs to get the hang of speaking with the braces on

Patricia... you\'re making me hungry!

I\'m still not feeling great and I stayed at home today and lay on the sofa. Laura enjoyed her 13th birthday, even with Mum being a sicky.She\'s having a DVD and sleepover party with her friends next Friday night.

Marie can\'t get onto the site. She\'s having some computer problems. I plan on dropping down to see her tomorrow so maybe I can figure out what the problem is.

Stephanie...sorry I didn\'t get a chance to email you today as promised but I\'ll get around to it, I promise.

Nite Nite everyone

Forgot to tell you about the recipe below, cook it in the oven uncovered, at 375 degrees for 1-hour at least, a little longer just makes it better.

Hi, Steph, here\'s the bean recipe.

BARBECUE BEANS

This is my recipe for that traditional American dish, always carried to picnics and covered dish suppers. It is probably akin to Boston Baked Beans, but mine is a Midwestern version. Can be made many ways, some people use molasses or cane syrup instead of the brown sugar, and I usually put in a little hickory smoked flavor barbecue sauce with the chili sauce. Barbeque sauces are a tomato-based mixture, always with some kind of sweetening, so basically what you are doing is barbequeing the beans. Some chop the onions and mix in with the beans, and it can be covered and put on the outdoor grill as well as done in the oven. Just needs to be cooked long and slow, so the sauce gets reduced and sticky. This recipe makes a lot, if you are doing it for just the family, you could half it.

cont...

In a sheet cake pan (9\"x12\"x3\", or similar)

2-very large cans of pork and beans (like Campbells, yes, CANS, and I don’t want to talk about it! I think that’s what you Irish are calling “baked beans”? Probably any kind of canned beans in a light tomato sauce would work.)

3/4-cup of dark brown sugar

1-bottle of chili sauce (Heintz makes it, a tomato based sauce, usually near ketchup in the grocery store, a little like a finely chopped salsa.)

4 to 6- strips of bacon, raw. I don’t know what would be equivalent in Ireland, maybe some chopped fatty pieces of ham? You need the fat in the meat to be rendered out into the beans for flavor.

3 or 4- med/large onions, peeled and halved, sunk cut side up, top level with the beans, I put them in a row down the middle of the pan, and put a teaspoon of brown sugar and a little butter on the top of each onion, so as it cooks that sinks in to the onion.

This stuff is very good. And if you are good, I will give you the recipe for “Dump Cake”, the easiest cake in the world to make. Delicious, too.

Hi, Cousin Mike CA, it\'s the talkative Floridian here. About that \"Not to Worry\" shop, I asked the same question some time ago, and Webbie said it is a specialty store for Asian foodstuffs and the like, proprietor named it that as a little nose-thumbing at terrorists, as it opened just after 9-11. Nice gesture.

Yeah, that broken blind is tacky. I\'m watching those two little trees in front of that shop, they\'ve lost their leaves for the winter, when they bud out again, we\'ll know it\'s Spring in Dublin. Won\'t be long until we\'re seeing you and lovely wife under them, will it? How are trip plans coming along?
