// n. colloq. old friend; term of endearment (origin obscure; it has been suggested that it derives from a corruption of Ir. 'seo dhuitse!' (= here it is you are!); Joyce, FW 215. 12-13; "Ah, but she was the queer old skeowsha anyhow, Anna Livia, trinkettoes"; "Irishman's Diary", The Irish Times, 23 June 1965, p. 7: ''Segocias and Segotias. Where did John Molloy get the title for his new show, opening at the Gate on Monday next? well, it's a logical progression. Molloy's last show was called 'There Y'are', and whenever a Dublinman says 'There y'are,' he inevitably follows it up with 'Me oul' Segotia.' So 'Me oul' Segotia' the show becomes." As for the derivation: "One story has it that members of a club called 'The Oul' Segotias' never tipped less than half a sovereign and that when less well-heeled passengers tipped tuppence, the jarvey (q.v.) would say with that deleicate irony that typified the breed: 'T'ank you, me oul' segotia.'"; the same column on 1 October, 1965, p. 9, cites Donn S. Piatt as suggesting that "Segotia has been Gaelicised as 'sagoiste' and may be connected with French 'sacoche' -- wallet, money-bag, saddle-bag.'", Roche, Tumbling Down, 28: "'Hickey, me auld segotia,' my father piped. 'How are you keepin' Paddy said as he slided through the crowd".

I\'m up. I slept an hour and I\'m a new woman.

JoAnn, I think the Moore/Leonard hooligans are planning to heave a brick through that window on CAM3 above the \"Not To Worry\" shop, where the blind or whatever is hanging crooked. They think it looks tacky. Stay tuned. Webbie may have to bail them out. They\'ll tie a note to the brick that says \"Fix your crooked window blind when you replace your glass.\" It\'s a new movement called \"Gestapo Neighborhood Improvement\".

Somebody tell me what \"me oul sha go sha\" means, please.

I\'m getting ready to go to work now. No brick throwing until I get back home, and Liz wakes up. We wouldn\'t want to miss it.

Whoopsie!

Had a great time out with the girls. It\'s been busy here.

I had a lot of catching up to do. Hello to Liz and the gang. Pat, that recipe sounds yummy. Steph, did you see American Idol last night?

Anthony Federov went to our local high school. (he\'s not one of my favs)

What went on with \"not to worry\"? What\'s the scoop?

An eejit, a half eejit a bit of an eejit, a latchico, an omadom, a gobs...e, a dumbass. as thick as two short planks.

two bob short of a quid, a fruit cake, two sandwiches short of a picnic, a ratbag.

Singing, thundering lighting it\'s no lark when dublin city is in the dark if you want any fun you go up to the park and view the zoological gardens.

Well done James! Rainy night in Georgia it is!

Now it\'s someone else\'s turn.

I\'d be more than happy to throw a brick through that window over the shop! It\'s a disgrace.

We\'re heading off now. We have to pick up Nora & Andy along the way.
