ah back seat now you know how hard it was for us irish women but we are strong women.so if your mam was born in 1919 how old are you i hope you dont think i was born in 1919 please i know it was my birthday yesterday but im not that old.........

Marie, if you are still there and everyone has left you. I will say that I think I know what you are saying about your Moms. My Mom had it hard too. She was born in 1919 in the mining camps in Oklahoma. It was an Irish camp and they were poor.

ellen ma did that to and i helped her because we could not buy firewood so we had to cut it ourself and that was put on the fire so the ma,s could cook what food they had

i bet when james from oz comes on he will tell ya a thing or to about them days

ur right there marie we could write a book each..but i loved my times then..oh them cakes..every day mam got them yummmmm.haa the fat..but god it was good..i use to do the shopping for most of the people about summerhill...as for baby sitting..i had babys haning out of me ..i use to take them to mountjoy squrie it was funlizxxx

liz we only got the baker when we had the money and that was not a lot of times....remember when our lights was cut off and the ma,s had to cook on the fire..........pat and sally we could write a book of what it was like.

ah marie remind me again..i sort of remember it..i know u and i was running for the 23 bus..we where going to see ur mam she just had paul..i was out of breath..i found out i put on a stone from eating the lovely cakes the baker use to come with.lizxx
