Hmmmm. I just got curious about the background of Mine That Bird, the horse who won the Derby, as he kind of came out of nowhere to do it. He\'s a gelding. There aren\'t many of those that run in the Derby. There go the stud fees. However, not to worry, the horse ran at 50-1 and won more than a million dollars. Not too bad.

Nice bulletin board on CAM 5, Webbie. I see people do the same thing there as we do here, leave a little fringe of strips with phone numbers on the bottom so people can tear them off. Some things are the same all over the world.

Is that Polish on that one note? Polish people have to communicate, too, but it looks strange for being in Ireland.

I hope Mar is having a good time in Holland. That girl gets around, which is great.

I\'m gone. Everybody have a good week, and enjoy your holiday if you have one.

Annette, the Kentucky Derby favorite was taken out of the race before it began because of something wrong with his front leg, and the horse that won it was not expected to do particularly well...so some people won a lot of money if they bet on him. A real surprise. Now the aim is for that winning horse to win two other particular races, the Preakness and the Belmont, and if he can do that his stable will make a fortune in stud fees. Winning all three is called the \"Triple Crown\" and will make a horse famous.

I don\'t bet on horse races, but I love to see them run.

Damn, I just had a second-long electrical outage, which blew my half finished post out into cyberspace. Now I forgot what I was saying.

Liz, it sounds like you had a nice day. Some of you have a holiday tomorrow. No such luck here.

I just spent a couple of hours going up and down a ladder cleaning leaves out of the rain gutters. I love my oak tree, but it sure does drop a lot of leaves, and you\'ve got to clean them out before you clean the deck, which is tomorrow\'s job, so I\'ve got a jump on that. I hope that electrical outage doesn\'t mean we\'ve got storms on the way. I need a clear day tomorrow.

What\'s the matter here? The GB is pretty empty...

Poor Liz, you were all alone here over the weekend.

Treasa is out for a weekend with family, Mar is on a trip, too, the Mieses are having their tournament and maybe Pat is watching the horserace. I hope all are well and enjoying their time.

I enjoyed my weekend, too. Franka was here since last Thursday and yesterday my parents were here for a BBQ. We all had some pleasant days together. But now I\'m a bit tired. I\'ll see my bed early tonight.

Have a nice start into the new week all.

When I spoke to her on the phone late she said they were waiting to be fed, as she had been held up at work, and they missed their normal feeding time..... I didn\'t realise she had SO MANY cats. I thought she had two. Whenever I visit she hides the others..... I am not a great cat lover.. I tolerate them, and would never be cruel or let anyone else be cruel to them, but I am a dog person. But your Ms.Cat sounds interesting....

Anyway off to a luxury hotel for the weekend. \'The Boss\' is taking us all away for a treat. Ian and Miriam, Johnny and Magda, and himself and myself!!!! Looking forward to it.... everyone is...

Take care everyone, enjoy your weekend, and catch you all later.

Patricia, too many cats!!!

My sister\'s birthday was on Thursday, and I got her a card with a lovely cat on the front. Yesterday I was driving by her house, (\'The Boss\' was in Limerick for check-up, and everything ok), and she was at work so I decided to just drop the card in her letter box. As I neared the door, about 5 cats appeared taking up positions at either side of the door. I didn\'t like the look of that

Mies, what a fiasco!!! You must have been really annoyed.

I know you were putting a lot of work into the banquet, and then to have that happen is so frustrating.... But as you said, it\'s a lesson learned. Good luck with the tournament this weekend, have fun.

Hi all,

A big thank you to all who said a prayer or thought of her.

Marie had had the surgery and according to her doc they did a \'little extra\' (don\'t know what that means. The important thing is the doc says the surgery was successful.

I think she may have a little more to be done at a later date, but thankfully she\'s well and in good spirits. She should be home on Tuesday. Might have been allowed home Monday but the docs who make those decisions will be enjoying the Mayday holiday here.

She was really happy when I told her that her friends on the GB were asking for her and praying for her.

Once again a big thank you. Your care means a lot.

Ayup you blokes

Weather looks set fair for the next few days which is good news for the organisers of the town\'s annual May Day Fayre on Monday.

It\'s a popular day out for families, although it can be expensive for parents with kiddies who want to go on the fairground rides, and raises lots of dosh for local charities.

Patricia - like the sound of that TV show about the Indians, hope it comes to the UK.

Yep, fantastic pic on 5, Mark is a very talented photographer.

Hope ya\'ll have a spiffing weekend.

Hey, Mies. Nice to hear from you. Too bad about that stupid restaurant owner.

I\'m finding the \"We Shall Remain\" series to be quite good, though I still haven\'t been able to catch the first episode. For those who don\'t know what it is, it\'s a series running on PBS TV, about the history of American Indians after the Europeans came, from the point of view of the Indians, using real decendants from the different tribes speaking their own languages and making commentary. The filming is excellent, scenery and costumes and make-up are knockout. You\'ll enjoy seeing it when you have time to watch what you have recorded.

Jim, how is Marie?

Everybody have a good weekend, watch out for Mexican flu.

Mornin\'...

Happy May Day, Everybody.

Great pic on CAM 5, Mark Westlake. What colors, and how sharp and clear the picture! I have a gopher tortoise living in his burrow in my back yard, he\'s an endangered species so I take care not to disturb him. He\'s not nearly so pretty as your fella, though.

They\'re running the Kentucky Derby tomorrow, favorite is \"I Want Revenge\", a grandson of \"Seattle Slew\" who won the Triple Crown in 1977. The Derby is probably the most famous horserace in the country.
