Morning from soggy Spokane. We had another thunder storm last night, it lasted about 2 hours & in places was raining 2\" an hour. The lightening was almost continual. Just west of us they reported funnel clouds, but no damage from them. All in all a pretty spectacular event.

Ah, you guessed it, Mies. Madam Woo has great influence on everything...sticking pins in those little VooDoo dolls can do wonders, and she\'s a great pin-sticker.

Yep, nice bird on CAM 5. Florida, particularly South Florida, has some very beautiful and exotic birds including a Great Blue and a Little Blue heron. There\'s the Roseate Spoonbill, which woud be knockout beautiful except for it\'s ugly big old bill. The p**k color is incredible. I always think it would be better with a nose job.

Bye! Have a nice day!

Mornin\'...

Damn, we are having a terrible heatwave here. 101F predicted today. You wouldn\'t think that in a place where 90F is an everyday temp in the summer that 10 degrees more would be so noticeable, but it is.

Today is the big day for the Monticello Watermelon Festival, crafts and food and live music and street dancing and the parade where the horse rides sitting upright in the back seat of a convertible...we\'ve scrapped plans to go into town today, it\'s just too hot to be outdoors. Very unusual weather.

Still, there are plenty of things I need to do indoors, so I\'m off to do them.

Y\'all take care.

I waited to cleek the Mark Westlake cleek til Mr. M got home so I didn\'t know it was a very cool photo instead of video...Even a train wheel can be a piece of art..Very nice...

Also nice Heron photo on cam 5. We have Blue Herons here...I always wished I\'d find a feather on some of our wildlife viewing trips but just snapping a photo of one of them is hard enough.

Pat, that\'s good news and congratulations!!!...Now, come on tell us the truth! You had Madam Woo lean on them...right?..wink..wink

Annette, did you count his fingers and toes? No broken bones? He\'s not starved or bruised? I guess they were not so \"unkind\" to him after all

Liz, we do enjoy sharing the cleeks and especially Mark Westlake\'s wonderful videos together. Mr. M likes reading the GB to me to also...I just wish he would share the remote. Then he would be ALMOST perfect....almost...

Good News here. We just heard this morning that the Casino has withdrawn their request for the land designation hearing scheduled for June 25th, and that meeting is cancelled.

I guess they didn\'t want to face a half dozen attorneys and 300 people adamantly opposed to their proposal.

Which does not say they won\'t alter their plans, and have another go at obtaining permission at a later date, but for now they have backed down.

This is called \"Democracy in Action\". Yee-hah!

Mick, I wish you great holidays and enough time to relax. Tell Seamus he can form a friendship with another dog there and so you will have some peace and quiet... hmmmm ...or one more dog.

Friday next week we will go on holiday, too. The GB will be empty. But perhaps, Mar will be back. And I wonder where Treasa is?

Mies, good luck with the white rabbit.

Okay, Liz, Robert is back from London and is sleeping as it seems they didn\'t sleep much there. But sleeping is not the purpose of travelling, isn\'t it? Well, when he wakes up I will tell him about your offer to come to OZ.

I hope all of the GBers are enjoying their holidays/weekends/festivals and having a great time. And Stephanie, don\'t work too much.

Nice picture on CAM5 today THANKS Mark Westlake. It reminds me of our glacial lakes in the high Cascades & Rockys. Now my research is cut out for me. Was Ireland formed by glaciers

One of the comittees I am on with the State Fisheries Dept. deals with fish stocking in our high lakes. Several cluds around the state pack juvinille fish into the lakes on backpacks to keep them stocked. I\'ve watched the videos & powerpoints many times & it is rugged country. Spirit Lake by Mt. St. Helens has never been stocked since the eruption & they thought it was killed off by the ash flow. Now they are catching trophy trout from it. Goes to show what mother nature can do.

A Blessing for the Woods

by Michael S. Glaser

Before I leave, almost without noticing,

before I cross the road and head toward

what I have intentionally postponed—

Let me stop to say a blessing for these woods:

for crows barking and squirrels scampering,

for trees and fungus and multi-colored leaves,

for the way sunlight laces with shadows

through each branch and leaf of tree,

for these paths that take me in,

for these paths that lead me out.

Whatho blokes

90 minutes to go before I get up from this desk for two whole weeks of freedom.

Annette - No room in my wee tigeen for guests I\'m afraid, but there\'s a coupla good pub B&Bs in the village anytime someone wants to visit.

Lesbian vicar (alleged) story on the front of this week\'s paper caused a bit of a stir.

Company flogged it to the Daily Mail for an undisclosed sum and I didn\'t get a penny - even used one of my pics and to rub salt into the wound a Mail hack even nicked the byline.

I don\'t like real journalists and wouldn\'t cross the road to pee on one if he/she was on fire.

Y\'all take care now and we\'ll \'speak\' again when I return from Bonny Scotland.

Hope I can stop Seamus chasing those pesky haggis.

Jeez, Mies. You did a good job on that photo critique. It was almost as obscure as I could do. Somebody\'s got to keep the level of couth up around here.

I\'m off to the Watermelon Festival Luncheon and Fashion Show today, and to Thomasville this evening for my son\'s birthday dinner. My calendar runneth over. But wait, that\'s a cup that runs over. I\'m confused. Never mind.

Y\'all please try to behave while I\'m away.
