Beautiful picture on CAM 5, Kristin Kjaer. Perfect the way the bright lake and mountains are framed by those dark trees. I think that mountain range is close to Steph. It\'s gorgeous. Thank you.

It is nice to see the Annettes are home safe, and it sounds like they had a great vacation. Can\'t wait to see pictures, and to hear more about Maria Asuncion. How did you communicate? It may be that Annette has some Spanish, I know she is very good at English. And Maria Asuncion is good at English as well, maybe you both spoke English? I must know every word you both said. I have a picture in my mind of Maria A\'s character and personality, and it is a very nice one.

I am glad it is getting warmer where you are, Liz. I don\'t like cold weather either.

One more grade to get in, Steph? I am sure you will pass, then you can relax for a little while. Tell us how it goes.

Loved those cleeks, Webbie. A little Rock & Roll on a Sunday morning kind of starts the day out right.

I\'m gone. Y\'all have a good week.

I just read that Frank McCourt died in NY today. If he wasn\'t the most famous Irish export since the Clancy Brothers and Brendan Behan, he was close. I admired the wit and the humor in \"Angela\'s Ashes\", but overall I just hated the book. Maybe because so many bad things happened to children...I can\'t deal with that. It didn\'t need all that human degradation to be a wonderful story. I also read \"Tis\", which was not as good a story, and I could see his writing teacher\'s mind applying the things that are expected to make a book sell, but I actually liked it better. Evidently he was very ill, cancer and meningitis. The obit said that his brother Malachey had written two memoirs. I didn\'t know he was a published writer, I\'ll have to see if I can find them. Writing ability runs in families, sometimes, they might be good. At any rate, may he Rest in Peace.

I\'m not sure about mistakes and typos in my posts as I\'m pretty tired. The first day at home was already busy again. Tomorrow will be the day to look for some of Webbie\'s cleeks and to read mails and more.

Good night, all.

I got the order to greet all of you from Maria. Probably, she won\'t be on the GB in the next time as she doesn\'t have a computer in the summer house and she will be there until October. I will send some photos later, too.

It was a pitty that we couldn\'t meet Mar. We tried to arrange a flight to Barcelona but it would have been very bad. The flights were in the evening to a place about 70 miles away from Barcelona (and to go by bus for another 1 and 1/2 hour to the city) and back in the morning from that place. So, even when we had stayed two nights in a hotel we just had have one full day for the visit and so we cancelled the project. There will be another opportunity for the meeting...

I didn\'t think we could meet Maria when we started to Spain for holidays but I contacted her when we were there and we changed our mobile phone numbers. She arrived only on 14th July in her summer house as there were some delays. So we arranged to meet on 15th and she gave me the description to find her summer house. We had to drive for more than two houres as our holiday house wasn\'t near Santander. We met not only Maria but also some of her relatives. Her niece with two of her children, her cousin with husband and her cousin\'s son and granddaughter. We had a long meal together in a restaurant on the beach and later we visited Santander. Maria is a very very nice and funny lady and we had a really great day. It just was a bit too short though we started for the journey back in the dark.

I saw my last post in Spain was peppered with some typos. I had to study the Spanish keyboard as it had another structure than the German ones. In all American/English keyboards the letter \'z\' is in the lower row and the \'y\' is in the upper row (on German keyboards the \'z\' is up and the \'y\' is down as you need the \'z\' much more often for words than in English words and the \'y\' less). And as I nearly write blind with ten fingers I often hit the \'y\' instead of the \'z\' and vice versa on that Spanish keyboard. And of course there were a lot more unknown signs for me and I didn\'t know what to use for corrections...

...but I think you don\'t want to know anything about Spanish keyboards now but about our meeting with Maria A. ...though, keyboards could be a matter of analyses and dissertations... ...okay, okay, back to the subject...

Fines for nicked stones? Hah!!! I\'m the greatest stone-nicker in the world and nobody will find them in my cases. Or does that \'custom and excise\' department of Spain want to say that there are already \'stone-sniffing-dogs\' in action?

No, no, no, my \'jewels\' are at home all. The only limit for the transport was the weight of our cases for the flight back. Hehehehe, if the airlines only knew what they transported over the years...

And together with the stones we are also at home again after three interesting and really nice weeks. I will sort my pictures and send some round and tell you some of my impression but it will take some time.

Hello all! Finally done with the class assesments for this term. Next term starts August 1st. What a relief I have. I have one that isn\'t graded yet, but hopefully it will pass.

For a treat I went and saw Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince. It was good, and it was a nice reward for myself. I do have to see it again so that I can understand parts of it. I had to leave 2 times during the movie. Grrr!

Happy Belated Birthday to our girl Mar!!! You go girl!!! When do you find time to rest?

Well all I\'m glad your getting rain. Sure could use some here. I hate JULY!!!! Too hot for me! Webbie, your doing a great job! Keep it up. Thanks for all of the news from all over the world.

Bye for now,

Love and Hugs,

Mornin\'...

I saw that article and the pic in the LBO, Micilin, about the lightning hitting the bathroom of that house. Didn\'t know it was in your neighborhood. Peculiar thing, it will usually hit the highest object in an area...a tall tree, a high antenna...poor old lady must have felt it was out to get her. What a shock.

Beautiful sunshine here this morning, nice after a week with a lot of rain.

Poor Mar must be flat out after celebrating her birthday yesterday, no word from her, perhaps she will be recovered enough to pop in later in the day. I hope she had a great day.

Cont.

Annette, the famous purloiner of stones must be home as well, unless she\'s been taken to jail. We\'ll have her popping in soon, I think.

Mr. Mies, does Mies keep her Yuccas in pots, and bring them indoors over the winter? I think they might be killed by the cold in your climate, otherwise.

That is a very long road in Mark Westgate\'s pic on CAM 5, today. Only good citizens can live around there, as they have to stay on the straight and narrow so much. Jeez, I\'m out of here before somebody gets me for that one. Hehehehehe.

Everybody have a good day.

Hello chaps.

Patricia - raining here also, in fact we have had a real mish mash over the past few days. Wicked thunderstorm on Fri - bungalow down the road from me hit lightning.

94-year-old woman had just finished lunch with her 68-year-old son when the thunderbolt struck.

Lots of damage, fortunately nobody hurt, the only injury was to the elderly woman who cut her leg walking to the ambulance where she was treatd for shock.

Mike in California - Scotland was just spiffing, first visit to the east coast and though not so dramatic as the west has some great hills and quiet glens and best of all no midges. Stayed in a working fishing village yards from the sea and woke each morning to the sound of the waves and the call of the oyster catchers.

Nice people, not because they want your cash, coz there\'s nothing to spend it on except fish.

Best fish and chips ever in the next village.

Nice picture on CAM5 Mike Lester. Mies has Yuccas here & they are also in bloom. Something chased an animal through our yard & across our deck the other night & went right through one of the Yuccas. One of the branches with the flowers was knocked to the ground & a pot broken. Maybe the coyotes were chasing the raccoon? Although it was loud enough to have been a moose

Thanks for the pic on CAM 5, Mike Lester. We have that plant in Florida, it\'s Yucca, we call it Spanish Bayonet. There used to be a great folk custom of sticking ping-pong balls on the ends of each sword-like leaf...they are very stiff and sharp. I haven\'t seen one done up like that for years, though, the practice kind of went out of fashion, though I heard once that the ping-pong balls were an effort to keep anyone that fell into the plant from being hurt...children playing nearby, or since Yucca is a common plant at the entrance of the driveway to houses, perhaps the homeowner coming home a little tipsy? Nice pic, thanks!

Mornin\'...

It\'s raining here...Bummer.

Ah, Annette is an experienced rock-smuggler, she\'ll never be caught. It\'s so nice that she saw Maria A. Can\'t wait to hear about it from both of them.

Thank you for the cleeks, Webbie. Linda Ronstadt\'s Blue Bayou, may be my best all time favorite.

Tom Jones, and you\'ve got to wander off and see Engelbert while you are there..Jeez, so many men, so little time.

I\'m out of here, Y\'all be good.

Hi everyone,

Just logging on for a quick moment to say a very special to Mar. Hope you have a great day Mar, and I hope the sun is shining in Spain, and that everything is happy.

That note from the Spanish Authorities is really going to frightern poor Annette......

Geez, I hope she doesn\'t get put in Jail. Is it too late to contact her and tell her to leave the \'jewels\' behind?

Had a quick look at 2 cleeks... rest have to wait until tomorrow.

Stay well everyone, catch you all later.

Treasa.
