Hello All...

Love cam 5, I like how the gull stands out in the blended grays & blacks..

Annette, WOT? You don\'t believe I have gators on my deck??? Okay, I\'ll admit that cobras or scorpions might be stretching the truth a little...Good luck at the Dentist. Tooth transplanting? Gardening, but only in the mouth...

OMG Pat! That Ode to Billy Joe video sounded just like you! That song does make one feel sleepy, slow and melancholy. Look that those people in the background of the video, the song slowed them down so much they can barely move

Liz, Mick is right...SHOCKING! SHOCKING! (was he cute?)...

Hi-Ho Hi-Ho off to paint I go

Annette, I know you will be sitting in the dentist\'s chair giggling with the picture in your mind of that buck-toothed beaver. That\'s nice, Webbie. A person needs something to smile about at that time. I hope it isn\'t too bad.

Nice Bobbie Gentry cleek, too, Webbie. Great song, truly evokes the place and people of the rural south, and that world is almost gone. Everybody talks like the TV announcers today...and that\'s too bad. We\'re all vanilla, and all the local flavors of speech are being lost, and you don\'t know where the hell you are.

I\'ve got work to do. Y\'all have a good day.

Mornin\'...

Great black and white pic on CAM 5 today, Mark Westgate. Very dramatic. I saw Francis Ford Coppola lately on TV, talking about his new movie just released, \"Tetra\", or something like that, done in black and white. I have no idea what it is about, he was talking about filming in black and white, saying that it is a whole other experience, that the lighting is the only thing you have to work with to evoke a mood or tell a story. I guess he should know...he made \"The Godfather\". I\'ve always been fascinated about the way the old master painters did an underpainting for pictures in shades of gray called \"in the grissaile\", and then applied color only in glazes over it, not working with colors applied directly to the canvas as is done today. There is much more sublety and depth with that method.

Pat, perhaps we will have the song as a cleek on the GB tomorrow. Then I can compare how well you sang.

Hello Mick, nice to have you on here today. Did you read Shakespeare and Jane Austin over the weekend? hehehehehe I must admit I also found the bear a bit sad yesterday. I would really like to share our sun with you. The big problem is winds usually come from northwest or southwest to us. And I don\'t know how to send them backwards to clean your sky from clouds.

Mies, can it be that you exaggerated your story a bit? Alligators...??? I mean just a tiny bit...

Liz, you are right. I carried too many rocks. Now I have to rest and enjoy them in my garden. I will take a photo for you.

I\'m not a happy camper. Dentist appointment tomorrow. *sigh*

Aw, great backwoods Mississippi pic on CAM 5, today. That one should go in a museum collection somewhere. Thanks, C. Kattz, and Webbie.

Yes, those yellow jacket stings really hurt, Mies, I think they hurt more than other stings. Damned insects are so fast, they just jump out at you and sting really quick, they\'re faster and sneakier than bees or other wasps. They always nest close to or in the ground, here.

Micilin, po\' boys (local pronunciation of \"poor boy\")are the New Orleans version of a submarine sandwich, anything on a long roll shaped like a submarine. Often French bread in New Orleans, more often seafood filling there than in other places, where they are variously called subs, hoagies, and some other local names. Particularly good is a fried oyster po boy in New Orleans, mayo, lettuce, tomato, olive salad, and a shake of hot pepper sauce. Yum.

Hello chaps

Annette - You must be having our share of the summer sun.

Gotta say though there was a lovely smell in the woods this morning after another night of heavy rain had battered the bracken.

Mies - Ya gotta watch them jaspers.

Liz - I\'m shocked to the pith and marrow that thou should sully thy eyes and thus thy reputation by watching a STRIP SHOW. Stand in the corner and face the wall for ten minutes.

Paticia - What\'s a po-boy sandwich pray tell.

Gotta say I found the pic of that raggedy bear very sad.

Hi...Thank you all for your concern over the vicious, unprovoked and not to mention (but I will) very undeserved attack of a huge, angry yellow Jacket!...After painting the garage I decided to take a break and sit on the deck to admire my work. Unbeknown to me I picked a spot next to four active hives. An incredibly mean, nasty tempered one took offense and stung me. GEEZ, who\'s deck is it anyway???...I survived as you can read, but not without making a fool of myself by running in the house screaming like a big coward...All I could think of was Hobo Spider? Black Widow? Cobra? Scorpion? ALLIGATOR!..For some dumb reason, Yellow Jacket didn\'t come to mind. I guess it was the surprise attack that caused me to panic.

Today Mr. Mies armed himself with a can of wasp eliminator and sprayed several more nests. He got stung twice, so I am not sure who really is winning the battle.

Wow, Mr Mies, that\'s pretty hot there. And wasps like that hot weather. I hope Mies isn\'t hurt too much. Do something good for her and hug her for me.

Hello everyone, we had such nice days the last week and over the weekend and so I wasn\'t in the right mood to sit indoors and go online. Just want to let you know all is fine here.

Have a nice start into the new week all.

Morning All-Another hot day today, It should last until next weekend.

Pat-We\'ve had 2 0f the traps up all summer & not a wasp in them yet? We haven\'t tried sugar water yet, just the little bait balls that came with them. In fishing camps, we used to hang a fish carcass from a wire over a can of soapy water. I\'ve seen the large sized coffee cans 1/2 full of yellow jackets. It\'s good except for the smell of the rotten fish

That is a very funny bear pic on CAM 5 today, Sonja Nic Rafferty. He looks very bored. Thank you.

CAMs are all especially clear with good colors today, Webbie. Did you wash the lenses? I can almost read the menu signs on the front of O\'Shea\'s, and the hanging flowers look like they are doing very well, growing and blooming nicely.

Gotta go.

Bye.

Mornin\'...

It\'s sunny at the moment, but another day of intermittent storms is predicted. Jeez, that\'s hot, Mr. Mies.

Wasps. Bummer. They used to build nests on my front porch, but now I have a hang-up trap which is quite good, really works. You put sugar water in it, they fly in to get that, and can\'t get out again. I haven\'t had to be out there doing target practice shooting Raid wasp killer at nests for quite a while.

Heaviest hurricane season is starting here...prediction is there won\'t be many this year. That\'s fine with me.

\'Night, Liz. Pretty quiet on here, isn\'t it? I hope everybody is having a good weekend.

I\'m home from my meeting, it was hot as predicted. When we left at 3:15pm it was 109F, 40 miles east, as I crossed the Columbia River Gorge it was 117f & over 100f all the rest of the trip home. I really love the big trucks big air conditioner

Mies & Caleb got one more side of the garage primed before being attacked & stung by a wasp. Caleb applied first aid & I found 4 nests on our deck when I got home. There was a very big nest blown out of one of our trees a couple of weeks ago. I think they are just trying to find a new home. Not here..........
