Hello all,

I must apologise for taking so long to offer a heartfelt thank you to all of the GBers who offered their condolences on the recent passing of my dear sister Chris.

Her passing came as a great blow to all of us in the family, and in the quiet moments the terrible grief slips in again and again.

To all who contacted us here on the GB and in private a warm hug and know that you are all appreciated.

To those who contacted me in private I promise to be in contact very soon.

Liz, your sisters Patty and Chris were at the funeral and it was great to see them. Patty is in one of the pictures I put in the slideshow I made as a little memory of Chris, it\'s in my newer blog which is linked from the old one.

Again thank you everyone, and to Webbie for making this facility for making friends, my gratitude.

Jim

I\'m glad you are not too incapacitated from your tumble, Mies. Just enough so that Mr. Mies had better take you out to your favorite restaurant for a nice dinner. That is if he ever wants to hear the end of it. Hehehehehe.

It seems I have too many things going on around here, can\'t seem to finish anything. I\'m getting tired, I need a vacation from projects. Maybe I need to arrange a kidnapping, like Webbie does, to get some time off.

I hope Annette and Franka are having a nice day and good weather in Dresden. Annette sounded like she enjoys that city.

Back at school, now, Steph? Have a good first week.

See you all later. Take Care.

Ah, turf. It does have a distinctive scent when it\'s burning. You can buy incense with that smell on some of the Irish net stores. I guess they sell it to expatriate Irish who long for the smell of home. Interesting information path to explore with the cleek. Thanks Webbie. And thanks, Mark Westgate, for the pic.

Nice you found your dad\'s song, Webbie, probably from around 1950? I remember it. I think a song and a remembered scent are the two things that can bring back an old memory the quickest.

Hiya ALL...

YES Steph, I HATE falling down stairs too!!!!. Yesterday, Mr. Mies threw his socks downstairs again (where our laundry room is), but this time when they didn\'t quite make it to the floor and landed on the stairs, I heard him say \"Damn\". He then went down and removed them from the stairs and onto the floor. Wasn\'t that sweet of him...

Gawd Webbie, your like a cleeks dealer feeding our addiction...I\'ll check a few at a time BUT I just had to listen to There\'s a Pawn Shop on The Corner. My Mom use to sing that one all time...thanks...

Now here is an OLD song I have been searching for for years. Didn't have the title, didn't know the singers name just had the words "here round the corner looking for Henry Lee". Of course it was "hey" or something different than that but not "here". The turf cutting brought it all back to me. Plodding home on our ass and cart (from turf-cutting on the bog) and my dad singing the only song I think he knew and this is it.

On cam 5 is that turf for building houses or for burning as fuel?

Steph

Webmaster-Comment: Steph
Yes that is turf for burning in a fireplace or elsewhere. It looks like it was "machine" cut but was hand reared. It also looks like it has been just recently taken off the "spread" and put into those "clamps".
We would make "footings" of the turf firstly and then move from there to what you see on Cam 5 and then "draw" the turf out to the small "lane" in preparation for the lorry or tractor trailer to take the turf home.

Some nice pics here

Hello all! Wow Mies be careful! I hate falling downstairs, and boy when you get bruises on the backside it takes forever for them to heal. I still have problems. Annette, I hope you had a great day with your daughter, cherish these times. Liz, I will treat my washer like china. I had a new set when I moved to Riverton, but the place we lived had a set so I sold them to the inlaws. It is so nice to get new appliances too. The fridge I have now, I can\'t even move it to clean, so the new fridge coming has wheels on it, and that will be nice to clean behind. Mick the seasons are changing so more people will be staying indoors and getting crazy. Quiet around here too! Well off to study tonight.

Love and Hugs,

We call cicadas \"locusts\" here, Micilin. I don\'t think it is correct, though, I think they are 2 different things entirely.

Not a great deal of dosh at all, Micilin. Just 10 acres of rural Florida acquired when prices were possible, with a creek at the edge of the property, and a 5 acre well stocked fishing pond 200 feet from the front door. My son-in-law is in an Alabama good old boy\'s paradise. The house is a 150 year old general store, made of heart pine, dismantled and re-assembled on their property, painted barn red, absolutely charming and the cosiest place on earth, full of quilts and flowers, and old painted chairs on the front porch. When he isn\'t fishing, Dub sits on the porch with his feet up on the railing and plays the guitar. They are smart, and very conservative with their money. Great pair, I must say, even though they\'re mine.

I\'m off to get some work done, Y\'all have a good week.

Poor Mies. That\'s too bad. I\'m sure she knows where to put the blame for leaving that sock where she would slip on it. My mother had a cure for that, she made my dad attach a box to the side of the basement stair rail, and you could stand at the basement door and fire your socks right into the box, like basketball, kind of. You either awarded yourself 2 points, or you went down and picked up the article and took another shot. Or ELSE!

You seldom see a basement in Florida. The water table is too high. They become a dank swimming pool very quickly, but I still take a shot at the laundry hamper, sometimes.

Take two aspirins and call Webbie in the morning, Mies.

A great Monday morning here, it feels like fall & speaking of falls, Mies took one yesterday. Down the last 4 steps into the basement, slipped on one of my socks I threw down to the laundry Saturday evening. She sprained her ankle & has a very large bruise on her backside. She was pretty stiff & sore when I left for work, but she said she was still going to paint some more of the shed today. It\'s done except for a few trim pieces & shelves inside.

GOOD MORNING, EUROPE!!! Out of bed with you. Coffee is ready.

I have to do that from time to time. It makes me happy when I can do something for Europe.

Hello Steph, now it\'s your turn for a new washing machine. I think it\'s the third for GBers here in a short period.

I\'m off with Franka to Dresden in about an hour. She has to clear something there and we will use the visit to have a nice day together in that beautiful town. Weahter is nice, too and so, nothing will keep us from having fun. We will be back late in the evening and I have an early start for work tomorrow. So, be good all.

Hello all! I am behind on the news around here lately, and I am sorry. Happy belated Birthday to Mike in CA. Hope you had a great day. Reghan I hope all is well with her, and everyone else.

Yesterday was not a good day for me. I started a load of laundry and my washer started to smoke. I called 911 and evacuated my house. I think I caught it in time, because no fire started. It is empty with water in it. I\'ve already purchased a new one since this washer was used and very old. Glad the stores were open, but can\'t get it til Wednesday. Luckily I did all of my laundry before that load. School starts tomorrow so I am off to bed. Normal schedule soon.

Love and Hugs

Thank you for the Sunday morning cleeks, Webbie. Nini Rosso\'s \"Il Silenzio\" breaks my heart, it is so beautiful.

Lovely stripe patterns on the kitten on CAM 5. The world is full of all kinds of beauty, and Sunday is a good day to stop to appreciate them.

I hope you are all enjoying your day.

Take Care.
