Hi all...

Webbie, thanks for pointing out the SHOCKINGthings that happen in Tallahassee. Now you see why people there have that \"Cracker\" nickname

Pat, I agree with you completely about caged animals. It\'s a selfish thing to keep them just for human\'s own pleasure or even for research. Even the rescue, treat and release may be wrong. Maybe, things should be left to nature\'s way. When you interfere with Mother Nature there always seems to consequences down the line somewhere.

Annette, we enjoy your photos so keep on snappin\' away. Mick, you too, one of my favorite photo\'s of yours is the bird with it\'s prey and OF COURSE, Seamus in his devil costume.

Going to be a hot one today so better get started early. Liz, I may need \"ice\" tea today

But... I got something nice in return for that trouble. Mr A took part in a photo competition last June. He won several prizes the years before but this time I got his prize. He won a pretty classy camera and I could talk him into giving it to me. We got it last week and I tried it with the dog photos. Now, you won\'t be able to cope with all the photos that I send you. hehehehe

Mick, I\'m not sure if it\'s also \'all-singing, all-dancing\'. I\'ll tell you later. Enjoy your long weekend...

...and have a nice weekend all.

Chuck Berry, The Band, Eric Clapton and the musicians around...what great performers they are! I couldn\'t keep my feet still. Listened to the music several times while doing some other work. Thanks, Webbie. Mr A will like it, too.

Another sunny and warm day here today. Our weather is very nice for weeks. I enjoy it much and hope it will be nice a little longer. Treasa wasn\'t on here to tell us how the weather in Kerry is. Perhaps she is already preparing her trip to the USA.

I had a great day with Franka in Dresden but after that a very busy week. I had pretty much trouble with the tax office and had to spend hours to phone and clear some questions. It\'s just tiring when you have to do the same things twice simply because people carelessly lose your papers.

Well done, Pat. ♥ ♪♫

I would like to sing with you...

Over hillways up and down

Myrtle green and bracken brown

Past the shelling through the town

All for sake of Marie...

Does anyone want to sing with us?

Hmmmm. I went away from the GB this morning, but I couldn’t keep my mind on my work, and had to come back in to comment.

Earlier, I looked at CAM 5 with the owl behind bars and with wire screen over his cage so he can’t fly away, as he would if he could. Good photo, Sonya Nic Rafferty. It haunts me. The hooting of the free owls in nature near my rural home puts me to sleep every night. I’ll not hear them again without remembering this caged creature.

My thinking about zoos and nature parks has changed, over time. I used to love them, took my kids to see the animals up close…thought it educational for children. I’ve begun to weigh that educational value against the loss of freedom and a natural life for the caged ones…and caging any critter only for that comes in a poor second, though those facilities do a much better job for the inmates than they used to.

Continued...

Cont.

There are rehabilitation facilities, where animals are kept only if they can’t be cured and released back into the wilds, there are scientific study facilities that add to our medical knowledge for humans and animals, there are places that keep species in order to keep them from going extinct. I think they are sad, but justified. And to hell with my kids getting to see nature up close…it isn’t nature, or natural, and it may very well be incredibly cruel.

OK, that’s off my mind. I’m off to work.

Y’all Take Care.

No problem, Micilin. I didn\'t mean to be seeming smarmy or superior over showing the pics of beautiful natural rural Florida, it\'s God\'s gift, and we are lucky that it\'s our home and that ordinary people can enjoy it.

You get over that fear of flying and come over, I\'ll help you see it for yourself.

Ha ha. Yep, the \"Thong Man\" or \"Mr. Speedo\" has been around for some time. I\'ve seen him several times, riding his bike around town. I wondered when he would be arrested.

There used to be a man around town on street corners, wearing a big crown and a long royal cloak with a fur edging, handing out tracts about the end of the world. Harmless, everybody liked him, just a local character not quite right in the head, like Dublin\'s Johnny Forty-coats. Mr. Speedo has a high likely-hood of causing trafic accidents, though. It\'s quite startling to run across him while driving. Hehehehehe.

Whatho chaps

Well that\'s it the long summer school hols are over and I should have a full staff again on Tuesday so things should start to get back to some semblance of normalcy - hectic as opposed to manic.

It\'s another bank holiday weekend and I gotta say I\'m looking forward to three days away from this darn desk even if there are 101 chores around King Towers.

Perhaps I\'ll have a chance to get out and about with my new all-singing, all-dancing camera.

Patricia - Hope you don\'t think I was being personal about your relatives\' finances, I have nothing but admiration for anyone who works hard to make a comfortable life for themselves.

Have a good weekend y\'all.

Yah-hoo. 7 minutes of Chuck Berry, anybody doing \"Dixie\", and Eric Clapton, the king...I\'m wired, now. Thanks, Webbie.

I\'m off to start the weekend. Y\'all have a good one.

Pretty shot on CAM 5, Eamon, the Mountain Ash tree stands out beautifully against that misty mountain landscape in the distance. I didn\'t know \"Mountain Ash\", and googled it, it is the same as the fabled \"Rowan\", the \"tree of the Druids\". You plant one near your house to keep away spirits, and on a grave to keep the occupant from rising. The wood is used traditionally for window and door lintels for spiritual reasons as well.

\"Cheeks as bright as Rowans are,

Brighter far than any star,

Fairest of the fair you are, That\'s the toast for Marie.\"

Now we\'ll see if Annette thinks I sang that song correctly. Hehehehehe.

Everybody have a nice day!

Nice picture on CAM5 Eamon, it reminds of my Dad\'s mountain ash tree. He had one in his garden, in the fall when the berrys fell & started rotting the robins would eat them & get drunk. The neighbors cat would take the robins into their back porch, kind of storing food for winter. Rob came home one evening to find about 12 drunk, maimed birds flopping about in his porch. He asked my Dad if he could borrow his chainsaw to cut the tree down
