Gary D, it\'s so nice to see you here. I hope you are well and things are improving. Take care. And a Happy New Year to you, too.

Mieses, your lake cruise sounds great. I like seeing the hawks when they sit on posts beside the streets or on trees to look for prey. We had a pair of kestrels under our roof for some years when the steeple of the church was renovated where they usually lived. There was a big mess on our windowsills but we didn\'t have mice those years and the cats also steered well clear of the garden. Be careful with your sn*wball. It grows in lightning-speed and you have to shovel again. hehehehe

Mar, enjoy your time in Leon. I hope you will have some nice parties but be good, my friend.

Pat, I still owe you a mail how to find and use that interrobang. I will try to get it ready tomorrow.

Franka gave me a pair of nappa leather gloves for Christmas that go with my jacket and when I shopped today it happend that I tripped over a scarf that matches perfectly with them. So, I\'m prepared for the cold weather that we have at present. Though, I must say, temperatures rose from -17C/1F last week up to -5C/23F today. And the snow that we had over Christmas is nearly gone. Snow came on 23rd and I had a terrible trip to work that day. But, at least, we had white Christmas and all the children were very happy.

Phillis, nice to see you had Christmas with the grandchildren after all that snow. Take it easy. The snow will go sometime and we are here to chat with you meanwhile. I also wonder why there aren\'t more people here to chat. But then, we are like a little family and that isn\'t too bad at all. I\'m on the GB since four years and it\'s hard to believe for myself how time flies.

Poor Treasa, she always cares about others and now the stress knocked her down. Thanks for the info, Webbie. I hope she will rest enough to come home soon.

Hello everyone, it seems I\'m back with posts and mails and everything else. I had to read for a while to catch up with the GB of the last days. I had some lovely Christmas days with parents and children but it\'s alarming how fast they were over. Some friends were here over the weekend and we visited others too. I got some books and had to start reading right away but today I did the first little works in the house after the long relaxing time.

Phillis, you are right, it\'s that thawing and re-freezing that is so bad. It\'s not only bad on the roads, but I remember the last winter I spent up North when that happened and everybody knew somebody that had walked out their front door and slipped on ice and broke some bones.

It is the same in Ireland, according to the RTE News today, so y\'all be careful over there, too.

We are to have a hard freeze for a few hours here too, tonight, but it won\'t do anything except freeze back some plants, we don\'t have snow and ice on the ground. I don\'t miss having to deal with them.

Y\'all Take Care.

Uh-oh. It looks like the weight of all she does has caught up with our Treasa. Thank you for letting us know, Webbie.

My prayers and thoughts are with her, and it is good to know she is all right. I hope she\'s resting and getting her strength back, she needs to take care of herself at the moment. She\'ll soon be back taking care of others, but she\'ll need to be well herself to do that. Please rest, Treasa. We love you.

Who am I to complain when Treasa has been in the hospital...prayers for you Treasa.

We only had about 15 inches of snow, Pat, but when you rarely have any and are ill-equipped, it brings things to a halt. It\'s the drifts which are causing all the trouble. That and the fluctuating temps, up to 40f in the day, then back down to 16f at night which causes everything to refreeze.

Happy Anniversary, Gary. Ours is coming up.

Finally had Christmas with the grands yesterday. It was just as fulfilling had it been on the 25th. Hope you all stay safe. Happy Monday.

Back from Eagle watching & getting Caleb home from work.

There were about 100 Eagles on Coeur D\'Alene Lakes, Wolf Lodge Bay. We took a 2 hour ride on a large tour boat & then drove around to get up close. The boat ride was very nice, but also very cold. We saw several trees with 6 or more eagles roosting & watching for fish, the reason they are there. The kokanee salmon are spawning & are easy pickings for the birds. They were a little to far off to get any good pictures from the boat, but on the shoreline drive, just before dark, they were very close. As soon as I have warmed up I\'ll send some pictures.

Thank you for that lovely little Christmas tableau on CAM 5 today, Maria Asuncion! I love it. The Christ Child in a twiggy manger, so sweet. You\'ve shared your Christmas with us, it feels like you gave us a hug!

Is the tiny coverlet a Spanish lace, or Irish Carrickmacross lace? I have a tablecloth of Carrickmacross, and it looks like the same kind of lace. It\'s very beautiful work, I treasure mine.

I must go now. I have some creme-filled chocolate bon-bons in my fridge from Christmas. They are calling my name.

Bye!

Good Morning Everyone. Another cold, clear day. It should be great for the eagle watching cruise. We\'ll have to dress warm though.

Phillis-I watched a clip on TV about your storm last night, not pretty there. We had it the last 2 years. So far we\'ve only had a few inches of snow this year.

We have lots of Redtails here, but they are still endangered & the same penaltys for harming one. We had a side road by our old store in Colfax that Mies renamed Hawk Lane, it always had 2 or 3 Redtails, some Ferruginous Hawks, Kestrels, & at the right time of year Gyrfalcons were very common. She always made me drive around it, even though it was gravel & washboard much of the way.

Mornin\'...

Hey, Phillis, how many inches of snow do you have? That storm has brought things to a halt all up and down the East Coast. I hear from my Baltimore relatives that things are slowed down there, too, and Christmas plans had to be abandoned.

We haven\'t had a hard freeze here yet this year, I have paper white naricissus blooming like crazy in my yard, they are all over the neighborhood. They are beautiful flowers, but I never bring them in the house...I don\'t like their smell. They make a lovely bouquet for Christmas with red Nandina berries mixed in with them, and some people love their scent, but I think they stink. We\'ll be between the mid 30sF and 60F today, which is about average.

Continued...

Cont.

This must be the quietest day of the year, nothing much going on here either, nobody is even e-mailing anybody, except I got one e-mail from a friend with a quote...\"One shoe can change your life, signed Cinderella\" that bears some thinking about. I guess it\'s the after-Christmas hibernation season. Isn\'t it nice to have a weekend right after Christmas? I needed one. However, I had a restful day yesterday, but I think I\'ll go stir up some trouble now, I\'m getting bored.

Bye!

I\'d post something if I had something to say, but with all this sn*w there is NOTHING GOING ON! We took the 4wheel drive Durango out for a spin to cure cabin fever and got stuck in a drift. After an hour, the hubby got us out. They called in the National Guard humvees to station at the Fire Hall. And they called in snow plows from other areas. Really bizarre how a little snow can change things. Still haven\'t celebrated Christmas with the grands yet.

Mies, red tails are beautiful. In Texas, it\'s illegal to even possess a feather from a red tail hawk since they are considered endangered.
