One thing I enjoy about late fall is watching the birds. We get all kinds of birds flying through here, some of which I\'ve never been able to identify. The snow has melted enough here that we actually saw birds taking a puddle bath yesterday.

Jane, I\'m glad it\'s warmer, but that\'s still too cold for me! We\'re planning a trip to AK next September, hoping to view the great lights.

Steph, glad I could help (tee hee).

Watched grandgirl play basketball last night against big rival. They were winning the whole way through, then fell apart in the last quarter. She was most disappointed. But only her first year on varsity. Three more to go...happy Wednesday everyone.

Nice Chickadee picture on CAM5 today. Thanks Dermot & Webbie. Their home range includes Washington, but I haven\'t seen one for several years. I think the English Sparrow & Starlings have moved them out of our immediate area.

Hello all!

I want to say Treasa, your family is in my heart and prayers during this time. I truly am sadden by your loss.

Pat, I hope Ms. Cat is fine tonight. She too will be in my prayers.

I hope we all can have a better year, but right now it seems sad.

I will bring something happy to the table. It was warm today. It was 31F. That was so nice. The week is almost over, and the weekend will be here soon.

Last night I dreamt I was at a chocolate bazaar, and that was truly fun, of course the end had a twist to it, but until then I was enjoying buying the chocolate. Maybe tonight in my dreams I can go shopping. Well better do some homework, that makes me sad.

Love and Hugs,

Steph

Thanks for the rest Liz and Phyllis, I felt better today. Annette and Mick have a great week. Webbie keep up the great work!

Ms. Cat is at the vet\'s for some more testing. She is not good. Besides the hyperthyroidism and extreme anemia, she has a spot on her lung, maybe cancerous, maybe feline heartworm. She would not withstand the heartworm treatment, Phillis will know about that, it is mostly a dog condition, spread by mosquito bites, rare in felines. You can give dogs a preventative, but not cats. The treatment is controlled doses of arsenic. Susie and I will be conferring with the vet tomorrow.

For tonight, she is warm and safe. Great vet, has taken care of her all her life, spayed her 15 years ago. He took her out of my arms today, told her \"OK, Darlin\', we are going to help you.\" When your vet calls your cat \"Darlin\'\", you don\'t mind leaving her there so much.

I\'ll probably talk to you tomorrow.

Pat,how is Ms. Cat?

Mick, I understand the frustration with the technology. I\'m more of a user-friendly kind of person. No patience for the details, just want to be able to do my job. The hubby says virtually the same thing. Just yesterday we were talking of kids fighting in school. Now they take guns to school...too sad.

Friends

I have received sad news from Treasa. Her brother, Tom, passed away this morning at 230am. Just 53 years of age. May he rest in peace.

I hope Treasa will not find this sad occasion too distressing and I hope she looks after her own health.

Me again

Phillis - It\'s not the creativity I find stressful, it\'s the technology involved in the job now.

I\'m an old geezer and we all know it\'s hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

And quite honestly with just 14 months to retirement I\'m not sure I want to burden my brain with a load of techno mumbo jumbo.

Yeah we\'re civilised alright, turn on the TV news any night and see just how civilised we are.

Even here in rural Bedfordshire we have our share of murder and mayhem.

Leighton Buzzard on a Friday night has been likened to Dodge City when the pubs turn out.

It\'s always \'enjoyed\' a reputation for punch-ups, but too many kids are carrying blades these days.

Hello chaps

Stephanie and Phillis- Funnily enough southern England is also bracing itself for heavy snow on Tuesday night.

Fortunately I do have a solid fuel stove and if push comes to shove can cook a simple meal on it.

Liz me darlin\' - I\'d love to share my bubble and squeak with you.

The vet says Seamus will regain the full use of his legs, but it will be slow going and he will probably be on medication for the rest of his life.

It\'s a real shame, he\'s such a happy little chap and can\'t understand why ha can\'t play ball outside anymore.

Hello Stephanie, I\'m so glad that all is well there with you and Bruce. I hope the new year will bring you both good health and just the best. You deserve it.

I wonder where Pat is. Maybe she cares about Ms Cat. Hope there\'s nothing serious.

We had a beautiful day today. The sun just set on the horizon. We had a blue cloudless sky over the white fields of snow and beautiful sunshine. All the trees and scrubs are powdered with ice and snow. It looks like in a winter wonderland. But just from inside... ...as when you come out it is bitterly cold (anyway for our neck of the woods). -15C/5F during the day and it was -20C/-4F last night.

Later...

Steph, I know what you mean about your worries. Our house is total electric and if power goes out, then we are very cold! Fortunately the hubby\'s cousin lives near and he has a huge wood burning stove. We contribute the wood from the farm and he keeps the fire stoked!

I took a nice long nap for you...hope it made you feel better. It did a world of good for me.

Mr. Mic, glad to see you back. You seem to have a stressful job. Creativity has its price, I suppose.

Just finished reading a book about Richard III. Wicked times back then, what with killings and cutthroats. Of course, everything is so civilized now, don\'t you know.

The first Monday was lovely for me. Still snow on the ground, but sunshine was nice. First Tuesday of the year should be gorgeous. Have a good day, all.

So I come back, and everyone disappears. What\'s up with that? Mick, bracing for a nasty storm to hit Tuesday night. Since Riverton is in a valley the storm might get stuck here. I am not looking forward to that. I think I will hit the grocery store tomorrow night. Better be prepared. What scares me the most is that I don\'t have woodstove or a fireplace. There was a woodstove, but it was removed before we bought the house. At least I have my candles.

I did not want to work today. The kids were little burgers too! If the ceiling was low enough and outside at recess they would be clinging to it upside down. Better do my online school now. No time for nap. So Phyllis, and Liz take a nap for me.

Love and Hugs,

Steph

Hello chaps

Bet you thought I\'d stepped off the edge of the Earth where it says here there be dragons.

Hope ya\'ll had a great new year - among my resolutions is to try and visit me ol\' muckers on the GB more often.

Been a hectic few weeks what with trying to get to grips with the new editorial system and trying to produce two papers a week when the world and his mate has shut down from Christmas Eve to Jan 4.

But I\'m back now.

Annette - I haven\'t forgotten owe you an email.

Patricia - Try tempting Ms Cat with chicken livers.

Most of the country is experiencing sub-zero temps and more heavy snow is forcast for this week, nothing compared to what some of you endure, but a travek nightmare to your average Brit.

Gotta go - bubble and squeak for tea.

Oh, Liz, you\'re a dear. I love your attitude about life. I\'m not so much worried about my slimming as I am my heart, etc. Want to get off high blood pressure meds and heart trouble in the family makes me want to stay healthy. So, I walk on the treadmill, use the elliptical when I can. Not too much, believe me! Well, it\'s my nap time I think. Enjoying my time off from school by sleeping every chance I get! Take care everyone.
