Hi...We have Sandhill Cranes migrate through Eastern Washington\'s Columbia Basin each spring. They are fantastic looking birds.

Phillis, those were two very odd dreams to have together. What did you eat before falling asleep?..Day mares, that\'s a good way to describe them...

Hey Pat, where I am, there are LOTS of Sandhill cranes, I live near the University of Florida. On campus where the cattle are they are all out there, hundreds of them. They are amazing.

I would guess not Phyllis, that sounds awful. I hate it when you have bad dreams and awake in fear. It is scary, I once dreamed I was getting on to my son (the 18 yr old) when he was much younger. We were in a gas station, and he was into everything, so I took him to the restroom to tell him firmly to quit. Well he started getting into everything in the restroom also, so I went to grab his arm to get his attention......and I pulled it off! I woke immediatly and went to check on him to make sure he had both arms. It was very frightening.

Just awoke from a nap where I dreamed of fish eating children\'s toes and armies stranded in the desert with supplies to only last 15 days. Such vivid \"day mares\" that I don\'t feel refreshed after this nap!

Jeanie-We live in eastern Washington State, a lot drier than the westside. Mies & I have vsited Olympic National Park several times & it is beautiful. If you go be sure to visit Hurricane Ridge, the Hoh Rain Forest (& Hall of Mosses, the Pacific beaches & of course the Dungeness Spit (which was a POD a month or so ago.

Yup Liz the old knees are as right as rain. But not without several weeks of physical therapy, but all worth it in the end.

Mornin\'..

Gawd yes Pat, the supermarket\'s roof in my neighborhood caved in and it took to end of April for it to reopen again. Lots of snow damage to many buildings in Spokane happened last year. I do NOT miss it. Today, we woke up to 34 degrees. I can hardly believe it\'s only January.

Liz, Mr Mies\'s knees are doing very good and I\'m sure it\'s do to your caring treatments. Jack 2 has nothing to fear from you. Right?..

Off for coffee!!!...back in a few..

Google up some info on Florida springs like Wakulla and Silver Springs and Blue Springs in Madison County. Incredibly beautiful places, ferns and lush plants all around the sides and the water is so clear you can see fish hundreds of feet down.

I\'m off to check out those cleeks before lunch, Webbie. They look good. Thank you. Makes my day.

Y\'all Take Care, now.

Jeez, I remember all the snow you had last year, Mieses, and how you had to shovel it all the time. Didn\'t a supermarket roof collapse because of snow load? I hope you get an easy winter this year.

I just heard that Preston, our legal council at the office is going to play the Creature from the Black Lagoon at a Florida Springs festival soon, should be a riot, Preston is very funny. That movie was made at Wakulla Springs (partly) in the 1950s, and that will be where the festival is held. I\'ve seen him in a bear costume, but Preston in a monster costume will be a hoot. Florida has some beautiful first magnitude springs, they are worth seeing to get an idea of what the real Florida, as opposed to the touristy Florida, is like.

The Whooping Cranes that are trained to migrate from Wisconsin to Florida by following an ultralight plane arrived in St. Marks Wildlife Refuge yesterday, a cause for celebration here. It\'s a wonderful story, google Operation Migration.

Everybody is crazy about the Whooping Cranes...the trainers dress in crane costumes to feed and raise them so they don\'t get used to humans. I saw a video of a trainer teaching one to do a mating dance, very funny, but strangely touching somehow, to know that those magnificent birds are now so scarce that people have to help them out with everything to ensure that their number sill continue to increase.

I am trying to fold some origami cranes to hang from my bedroom ceiling, but haven\'t got the knack of it yet. When I complete a good one, you will probably hear me whooping with joy in Ireland and Europe and Oz.

Mornin\'...

We have blessed relief from the cold here today, it will be 65F this afternoon, and no freezing temps tonight. This is what Florida is supposed to be.

The maintainence man from the gas company finally got here yesterday to service my gas fireplace. I\'ve been waiting for him for a week and a half, that fireplace is my back-up heat if the electricity goes off, and just to look pretty and cosy at other times, but with the cold weather I hated to complain because some people depend entirely on gas heat and they should be priority, but there\'s nothing like a fireplace on a cold evening.

Jeanie, it is so that we don\'t often see ice in Florida, but I\'ve had to break the ice on the birdbaths several times lately so the birds can get a drink. We broke records for cold this year, and it was as warm at the Mieses in Washington State as it was here. Unusual!

Good day to everyone! It is warming a little here, still have ice on the ground (we had the sprinklers on so it froze) Our pool actually had ice on the top of it. I do believe it is the first time it has ever done that. It was cold!! We are so ready for warmer temperatures. It would have been a little more rewarding if we had gotten some snow!

Mr. Mies, Do you live in DC, or Washington State? We went to DC last year for a field trip. It was absolutely Amazing! I loved it, can\'t wait to visit again. I haven\'t been to Washington State, but hope to visit one day Olympic National Forest/State Park. One day I will have more time. Looks like no rain in Dublin today!! Good for you all, how is the weather? Does it snow there? Never here in Florida, when it does, it melts before it hits the ground. Have a great day everyone!! Jeanie

Not much going on here. Weather is nice, dogs stink and need bathing. Work and more work. School starts again next week. and my shoulder is killing me. Maybe bursitis the doctor says. Recommends 3 weeks of physical therapy--which is where i work in the hospital, but not too interested in the pain that goes with it.

You all can keep your sn*w, Annette! We have rain coming today. Isn\'t it terrible about Haiti? Can\'t imagine what those people experienced.

Happy Thursday.

Hello all...

Gary, I missed your birthday. I hope you had a nice day.

BRRRRRRR, Mr. M\'s photo just brought back memories of how we were buried under tons of snow last year. We really earned a mild winter this year. Still keeping my fingers crossed as it\'s far from over and there\'s still time to get buried again.

Pop, It\'s kinda a shame you only want to go to Ireland for drinking or partying. You can do that any where. You\'d be missing all the beautiful country, culture & history Ireland has to offer.

Nice cleeks Webbie, I will look at them in the morning.

Hope everyone is doing good. See you in the morning...Well, my morning anyway...Night all

It\'s weird I keep reading about how all the Irish drink and party all night long, but you go on the web cams at 2 -3 AM and their\'s no one on the street or around, You can go out in Reno, at 3 am and the casino, bars, clubs are packed. Who\'s kidding who! Do the Irish really party or is it just a scam to get tourist to go there. I was really considering taking a 2 week vacation there, but since I have researched it, I\'m not to sure.

Thanks for putting the Skid Steer on CAM5 today Webbie. That was Dec. 22, 2008 & taken about 20\' from my desk. That was the last loader we had & it sold the next day. We either sold or rented everything that would plow, load or haul snow that week. What a change in just 1 year it\'s 45F & raining today, as it has been all week. But as I said last week there\'s still 2 months of winter.
