Steph, I hope Bruce and you are doing fine

Mick, are you managing to keep Seamus quiet and not running? Good luck with it, friend Good to know the snow is going, I hope you won’t be flooded now, that’s what’s happening here in some areas now Good luck at your job too, I was sure you’d get used to it soon

Mike N, you’re right, the weather in Ireland it’s not what it used to be before, I was one whole month in 1994 and then it rained almost everyday, but in the trips I did in the last years I had more sunny days than rainy days, I hope the weather there will keep that way

Madame Woo, you worry me, your idea of the flame-thrower to fight the snow… you’re getting more and more violent, I’m afraid

Annette, thanks for offering that snow you have there, but it’s not needed here, NOT AT ALL!!!, and they’ve already had more than enough of it during the last Xmas season in León, so thanks for offering it, but you can keep it… or you can use Madame Woo’s fire thrower to get rid of it… How great you still celebrate your Sunday dinners, some day I’ll be in one of them, I hope, in summer, of course!!! Ha, haaa… Bad girl, using the monkey smilie… Everybody knows I’m an angel, that’s why I’m always using the smilie, right? (ok, ok, I can’t cheat anyone, my favourite smilie is )

Mr.Mies, enjoy that winter there… while it lasts… Great to know the business is going so well, afterall the snow was good somehow for you, wasn’t it? Witness vs witless… Haaaa, haaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!

Liz, what? Your rubber duckie is gay??? I hope the fires in Oz will stop soon, too bad The Quiet Man, one of my favourite movies, I love it!

Ellen, sorry for the delay, there I go: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I hope you had a great day yesterday

Pat, your origami crane was very nice, not a failure at all I can’t imagine an igloo made of Florida sand, haa, haaa… Flies, bees, wasps, all of them disgusting, all of them disgustinnnnggg!!! My sister and brother-in-law have a fireplace and I love it, it’s so comfortable to sit in front of it in the comfortable coach in winter! Wakula springs looks very very nice There’s a statue in Asturias, in a city called Gijón, in the north of Spain (maybe Annette saw it in June) called “The Immigrant’s Mother”, and it’s very similar to the one in cam-5, and the story is more or less the same, she’s waving goodbye to his son, a very nice statue

Jeanie, welcome to the GB clan, the best place to meet people and have a perfect chat I started talking here (after finding it by chance) in May 2006, and since the very first day everybody treated me as if they knew me from ever, as very good friends, I have never regretted starting talking here, I love them all, and I hope I’ll meet them all face to face some day (I already had the great pleasure to meet Webbie and Annette) By the way, if my English is weak or weird is because I’m a native Spanish with no English-speaking relatives, only very good friends and a huge interest in your language Will you accept mails from us from time to time? Photos, jokes, recipes, etc. etc You’re doing great keeping a family and studying too

Treasa, it’s so good to see you here again, I hope your health will be much better quite soon, you deserve it. Your Ken is in Heaven with your brother and all the people he used to love and passed away too, you don’t need to worry about them, they take care of you from there, please help them by taking care of yourself Next Xmas you could travel anywhere you and the Boss wish to, it’d be a perfect time and way of having a relaxing holiday

Hello everyone, I hope you\'re ok and enjoying. I\'ve just seen some awful images of Haiti in the news, all these people, the ones who are still alive, of course, are living a desperate situation, they need everybody\'s help. The Red Cross is collecting help from anyone who wish to do it, there\'s no need to make a big effort, just 1 euro or 1 dollar per person and they\'ll be able to help with that. I\'m not telling you what to do, of course, just expressing my wish of everyone helping a little to this poor people, they need it so badly...

Oh, the Quiet Man! One of my faves! Enjoy.

I\'ve been miserably sick to my stomach. Missed the grandgirl\'s ball game. So now I rest on the sofa with a trash can near by and try to stay off my aching arm. I\'m just grateful this didn\'t happen during the holidays.

Jeanie, you\'re a busy lady. I try to stay busy too. Keep my mind going. My classes start again next Tuesday and I\'m looking forward to it.

Hi all...

Pat, thanks for the info on the statue. It pulls at your heart strings as you can almost feel her agony.

Jeez Annette, we almost had Jeanie fooled into thinking we were a bunch of sweet old ladies sharing recipes, & stories of our lives & families over the back fence until you did THAT!!!..Geesh!

I started posting in June \'05 and poor Mr. Mies, started a year or more later. He has a real name but Marie (Liz\'s cousin) always called him Mr. Mies and it kinda stuck. I asked if he wanted to change it but seems to like it this way.

From Google:

\"The \"Waiting on Shore\" monument, appropriately situated near the RNLI lifeboat station, depicts a woman holding her arms out to sea. This sculpture reflects the age-old anguish of a seafaring people who watched and waited for the safe return of loved ones.

It is to honour the memory of those who sailed, or were lost at sea, that this woman, cast in bronze, stands:

\"Lost at sea, lost at sea

Or in the evening tide

We loved you, we miss you

May God be with you abide\".\"

You\'re welcome.

Nice pic of that statue on CAM 5, today, K. Murphy. It looks like it has a story behind it. Now I\'m curious as to what it means, and it\'s time to go see if google knows anything about it. Thank you.

No, Jeanie, none of us knew each other before we began posting on this site, but some people have met \"in the flesh\" since being on here, Mar and Annette and family met Webbie in Dublin a few years ago, I don\'t remember if Treasa got there or not, but she has met Webbie, and Liz had planned to be there but was sick. Mike CA has been in Ireland but I think a bad snow kept him from seeing Webbie, and Jack 1 meets Webbie sometimes. Annette met Maria Asuncion in Spain in the summer.

Cont.

We all just stumbled in to this site like you and Phillis did, and got to know each other. It always seems to me like a bunch of neighbors talking over the back fences, only the other yard may be on another continent or 2000 miles away. We\'ve had many laughs, some tears, some arguments, have learned lots about each other cultural ways, and home places, and behave like any other group of friends.

Of course, Webbie is the glue that holds it together, he lets us take over his guest book and keeps us in line, and it\'s a very pleasant international experience.

Unique? I don\'t know, I\'ve never been on any other place, except to leave a quick comment at some other blogs that people from this GB have.

You and Phillis are friends now, too, and I\'m enjoying your company as I\'m sure everybody is. We all get to know each other as time goes on. We talk about whatever interests us at the moment, and there aren\'t really any rules, except that Webbie likes us to be kind and polite to each other, and stay away from off-color subjects, as this thing can be read by children and we wouldn\'t want to be making any remarks that wouldn\'t be suitable for them to see if they are doing a school project on Ireland, or something like that.

So, that\'s us, and Welcome again to the neighborhood around Gardiner and Talbot Streets, Dublin, Ireland.
