From Google:

\"The \"Waiting on Shore\" monument, appropriately situated near the RNLI lifeboat station, depicts a woman holding her arms out to sea. This sculpture reflects the age-old anguish of a seafaring people who watched and waited for the safe return of loved ones.

It is to honour the memory of those who sailed, or were lost at sea, that this woman, cast in bronze, stands:

\"Lost at sea, lost at sea

Or in the evening tide

We loved you, we miss you

May God be with you abide\".\"

You\'re welcome.

Nice pic of that statue on CAM 5, today, K. Murphy. It looks like it has a story behind it. Now I\'m curious as to what it means, and it\'s time to go see if google knows anything about it. Thank you.

No, Jeanie, none of us knew each other before we began posting on this site, but some people have met \"in the flesh\" since being on here, Mar and Annette and family met Webbie in Dublin a few years ago, I don\'t remember if Treasa got there or not, but she has met Webbie, and Liz had planned to be there but was sick. Mike CA has been in Ireland but I think a bad snow kept him from seeing Webbie, and Jack 1 meets Webbie sometimes. Annette met Maria Asuncion in Spain in the summer.

Cont.

We all just stumbled in to this site like you and Phillis did, and got to know each other. It always seems to me like a bunch of neighbors talking over the back fences, only the other yard may be on another continent or 2000 miles away. We\'ve had many laughs, some tears, some arguments, have learned lots about each other cultural ways, and home places, and behave like any other group of friends.

Of course, Webbie is the glue that holds it together, he lets us take over his guest book and keeps us in line, and it\'s a very pleasant international experience.

Unique? I don\'t know, I\'ve never been on any other place, except to leave a quick comment at some other blogs that people from this GB have.

You and Phillis are friends now, too, and I\'m enjoying your company as I\'m sure everybody is. We all get to know each other as time goes on. We talk about whatever interests us at the moment, and there aren\'t really any rules, except that Webbie likes us to be kind and polite to each other, and stay away from off-color subjects, as this thing can be read by children and we wouldn\'t want to be making any remarks that wouldn\'t be suitable for them to see if they are doing a school project on Ireland, or something like that.

So, that\'s us, and Welcome again to the neighborhood around Gardiner and Talbot Streets, Dublin, Ireland.

Jeanie, last September I was off for 3 weeks. During that time, I was dreaming of places I\'d like to visit and I found this website and the wonderful people on it. So I haven\'t been here long, but I didn\'t know anyone on this site until then. Some have been here for years. It is a good site, isn\'t it?

You know I never seen that before now(smilie help)! Wow, cool, I love smilies!

Awesome, Thanks, it is a BEAUTIFUL day here today...however, it is going to rain tomorrow! I am soooooooooooooo glad it is Friday. I have been so busy that I haven\'t taken down my Christmas tree. Is that terrible?? Anyways, it is still alive and smells so good, so I have still been enjoying it. I have just started my second semester in college for my Bachelors in Education. It is very hectic with three children and school and work. But it will be rewarding in the end!! Have a great one everyone! Jeanie

Hi all..

Treasa, glad to see you here. 35 years the 25th of Jan, Happy Anniversary. I WILL join you on planet Zog next Christmas for sure. We\'ll talk later and figure out where we\'ll meet

Phillis, I should\'ve said what did you take instead of what did you eat.

Jack 2, Mr. M took celebrex for many years for his knees. It really did help. He also took Glucosamine/Chondroitin (say that three xs fast)along with it. He did really well for about 5 years and then it gradually stopped helping and had to face the fact of knee replacement. You might try adding the G/C, they\'re over the counter supplements. Ask your Doc about it..OR, just give in and let Liz fix you up

Whatho chaps

Blimey, can\'t believe another week has gone by and again - I\'ve missed so much top banter on the GB.

See we\'ve got another friend, wotcha jeannie with the light brown hair - how spiffing that you have joined our merry band.

Treasa - sorry to read about the ticker problem.

Mar - Seamus is fine, just need to keep him calmed down and not let him run about too much with his poochie pals.

Jack Frost has finally released his chilly grip on rural Bedfordshire and the snow has almost melted.

Looks beautiful but causes so much aggro.

Pat - Finally getting to grips with the new editorial system and appreciate your advice.

Reading Dean Koontz\'s latest novel and much as I love Kingy he\'s a serious rival for my literary affection.

Irish sausages for tea - gotta go.

Hi everyone,

Just popping in for a moment.

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers. Thanks to Webbie too. Still in trouble with the old ticker. They can\'t seem to regulate. May have to have cardiovasion. New meds made me violently sick. On 25th Jan will be 35th wedding anniversary and \'The Boss\' has never seen me retch in all that time (even through pregnancies) \'till the other night. He didn\'t know what to do. (neither did I). I don\'t really do sickness.

Anyway, trying to break the ice (literally lol) here. This weekend is 3rd anniversary of Ken\'s death. Where have the 3 years gone? Where is my Ken now?

Anyway, have decided am not doing Christmas any more. Next year am going to planet Zog for whole month of Christmas....

Hope everyone is well. Will log back in on Monday, and catch up on all the news.

Take care everyone. catch you all later.

Treasa.

Oh, Jeanie, no bother on the mispell. Most people spell it wrong. It all started with my mother! lol Actually, the spelling is from a Louisa May Alcott book my mother read. The maid\'s name was Phillis, not the traditional Phyllis. She thought it was clever, but it\'s caused a lot of confusion.

We have so many cranes here that during migratory times, people often think they are geese. Their call is similar, but their flying pattern is different.

What I don\'t understand is why this area has so many seagulls. We are miles and miles from the sea, yet they thrive at dump grounds.

Happy Birthday, Ellen, tho we haven\'t officially \"met\". Hope it\'s a wonderful day for you.
