Phillis-Yes, I\'ll never forget that 1/2 trip. We had our emergency ditching plans made & a sea plane following us the last couple of hours. It brings back the old Navy saying \"Even the best landing is nothing but a controlled crash\"

Home from physical therapy (ouch) and preparing for the ice storm that is supposed to arrive tomorrow. Ice storms are horrible, power lines down, wrecks, not to mention the cold! I hope it clears up by Friday as I am supposed to work the Emergency Room this weekend...

Hope everyone is having a good day/night.

Howdy pardners.

Guess what - it\'s RAINING AGAIN.

Mar/Pat - Hope y\'all feel better soon.

Quiet sort of week at the cutting edge of local journalism, but I daresay something will turn up.

Nice pic of the Cornish coast.

Spent a fortnight there one summer defending some sand dunes against an imaginary invasion force - spiffing beaches as I recall.

I do not understand your motivation , Jack 1, in using this GB to constantly pick at Liz re her lifestyle. Are we in a contest as to who lives in the best place, or conducts their life in a superior way? Are we going to declare a winner at some point? Phillis has just told us about her home and area…I find that interesting and informative, not knowing that part of Texas at all, but I don’t feel the need to make an unflattering comment that relates it to how or where Liz lives. I’m sure we have all chosen our own location and lifestyle according to our individual needs and wants, and that is not reasonably open to criticism by anybody else. You are obsessive, get over it.

The weather here is not too bad, sunny today and will get up to mid 60sF. Still a little cool at night for me, but no freezes, and I\'ve got daffodils up about 4 inches high, I always love to see that. To me, a short winter is a good winter, if you must have winter at all.

Mornin\'...

Mar, you must have given me your cold, I\'ve got a bad sore throat and a fever and am staying in today. I hope we are both better soon.

President Obama wil be making a major address to the nation today. Of course, some contents are always leaked to the press beforehand, but the only way to really understand is to listen to get even an inkling of what\'s going on. It hasn\'t been an easy year for him, it\'s never as easy as campaign rhetoric makes it sound, and many people are disgusted at the display of raw partisan politics he has encountered. He\'ll have to get into the fray and fight harder for any reforms he wants, not just talk about them and expect the Legislature to do anything. That\'s the way our system works. I have no confidence in Congress, it\'s owned by powerful lobbyists, and that\'s a place we need reform.

Mr. M, I bet that was a 1/2 trip you\'ll never forget!

Yes, Jack1, it\'s not too bad when you have vehicles to travel in. There are no bus services and taxis are outrageously expensive in this area. We are blessed to have cars and motorcycles, even a boat. The hubby likes his toys, after all. If it weren\'t for the freedom of these vehicles, we would be in a pickle as there is no work or entertainment locally. But the easy pace of living and knowing all the neighbors and the relative safety of the area are worth all the inconveniences. And besides, it\'s where the grandkids are!

How fortunate you are to be able to travel so much. And to make lasting friendships.

Mar-The 1/2 trip was when we got to Point-No-Point (1/2 way there)& hit some very bad weather. We jettisoned every thing we could throw out of the plane, turned around & returned to California. We landed with about 15 minutes of fuel left.

You know you’re always welcome in both places Wow, you lived an earthquake, I have never lived one and I hope I never will! I envy your soft weather there, I wish I had it too

Pat, and where are you too? You\'re off just one day and I miss you a lot here

Oooh, I had faith in you, but I see you’re just another current woman loving that awful colour, I feel sooooo deceived… Apart of the rattlesnakes and the tornadoes, I’d love to visit Texas some day, specially those rolling hills and rivers In this page, NOTHING is TMI (too much information), I think Thank you for your concern about my health, I’ll be feeling much better quite soon, I’m sure Maybe some day we’ll meet in Dublin, and Liz and all the others will join us, who knows…

Annette, -20º? Oooh, my god, only thinking of it makes me feel cold! Use all your sweaters (all at one time, I mean) and try to stay indoors, please! And please, make sure that when you send the pi*king sn*w to the Mieses, it doesn’t go through or near Barcelona, ok? Try to make it go through the north of France, for example

Mike N, lucky you, travelling in these old trains, it must have been nice How nice, sending storms to Phillis, bad boy!

Hello everyone, I won\'t say I\'m feeling better because I don\'t like to lie to you (I never do it), this morning I went to the office and I could only resist one hour there, I had to go back home and I went straight to bed, and I was sleeping until 3pm! It made me good to sleep so much, I had slept just a little bit last night (because I couldn\'t breathe properly) and my head was aching terribly this morning, but I feel better now, absolutely exahusted, but at least I\'m starting to breathe again, I hope I\'ll tell you that I\'m feeling great quite soon, ok?

By the way, I hope you\'re all ok

Phillis, that was a wonderful post about your part of the country and your life. A neat little story and absolutely not TMI. I liked it. Perfect for me to learn Englisch as there are always a few English words that I don\'t know.

Steph, it\'s so good that you count the days until spring. It\'s sooooooo cold here (-20°C/-4F) and I can\'t wait for spring to come.

...hmmmmm... there is no other possibility... I\'m going to lead the snow and the cold to the Mieses. They didn\'t get much this winter.

I liked the old steam engines in Webbie\'s cleeks. What a great way to travel.
